Kenneth E. Loomis, 74, of Davie passed away Nov. 18, 2016, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born Feb. 5, 1942, in Hartford, CT, the son of Lester E. and Freida May (Convey) Loomis. Ken moved to Ft. Lauderdale, FL in 1960 with his cousin Don Ball. Ken graduated from the Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science in 1967 after completing his internship at Johnson Foster Funeral Home in Hollywood, FL. He later worked for Kalis Funeral Home for several years. In 1976, Ken joined the Fred Hunter Funeral Home, working many years as the manager of the Fred Hunter University Drive Home in Davie, retiring in 2014 after 38 years of service. He was a member of the Plantation and the Davie/Cooper City Chambers of Commerce and of the Sons of the American Revolution, Florida Chapter. Ken is survived by his wife of 51 years, Julie; daughters, Kimberly Jennessee (Craig) and Jennifer Loomis; grandchildren, Emily and Wyatt Jennessee; brother, Roger Loomis (Cynthia); and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m., Monday, Nov. 21, 2016, at Fred Hunter's University Drive Home; 2401 S. University Drive; Davie. The funeral service will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2016, at St. David Catholic Church; 3900 S. University Drive; Davie. Immediately following the service, a luncheon will be held at the Fred Hunter Funeral Home on University Dr. in the "Ken Loomis Community Center".
