Violet Young age 78, of Alden, died Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at her home. She was born June 20, 1939 in Litchfield, MN, the daughter of Paul and Caroline (Thompson) Nimz. She grew up and attended school in Frost. On November 28, 1958 Violet was united in marriage to Larry Young at the United Lutheran Church of Frost. Violet worked various jobs in the service department and dispatch with Interstate Power Co and later Alliant energy. She was affiliated with Methodist churches and served on the Alden School Board. She enjoyed bowling in her younger years, was a member of a card club and enjoyed reading. Violet’s greatest enjoyment came from sitting in her 4-season porch facing the lake. Survivors include a daughter; 2 sons; 3 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; a brother-in-law; a sister-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews. Violet was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Larry; in-laws, Lester and Laura Young; sister, Virginia Amundson and a sister-in-law. Private graveside services were held at the Alden Cemetery.
