King George County, VA Order Book 1726/34 part 2, pge 475, dated December 5, 1729, shows that one Jane Humphrey had bound (apprenticed) her two sons, William (born 9/21/1721) and John (born 10/15/1724) to John Bourne. An assumption is made here that the father of the two boys named did not appear on this order because he was deceased, the assumption is also made that it was necessary for Jane to apprentice her sons because her husband had died, limiting the family income.
A Joseph Humphreys (Humphrey) died January 22, 1725/26 per St. Paul's Parish records and was probably Jane's husband
