Lorena “Rena” Pearl Sutton Carter, age 93 and a resident of Konawa, Oklahoma passed away from this life Saturday, December 16, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family and friends under the loving care of McCortney Hospice. Rena was born March 16, 1924 in Holdenville, Oklahoma to Samuel Jesse Sutton and Mary Alma Willhoite Sutton.

She graduated from Vamoosa High School and married Otto Claud Carter Jr. January 13, 1943 in Wewoka, Oklahoma. She was a charter member of Vamoosa Baptist Church and loved reading the Bible, traveling, gardening, sewing and most of all she loved her family very much.

She is survived by one son, Bob Carter and wife, Linda of Byng, Oklahoma, two daughters, Glenda Moon and husband, Joe of Byng, Oklahoma and Gayla Branscum and husband Ronnie of Konawa, one brother, Walter Sutton and wife, Charlsey of Seminole, Oklahoma and one sister, Lo Scott and husband, Gene of Tucson, Arizona. She is also survived by six grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-six years, Otto Carter Jr., both parents, five brothers, Earnie, Arnom, Clyde, Carl and Bill Sutton, two sisters, Clara Rigdon and Mamie Pearl Sutton and numerous other family members.

A memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 22, 2017 at Vamoosa Baptist Church under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa. Rev. Bruce Sanders will officiate.
