Bobby Wayne “Bob” Lombard, age 80 of Wheaton, MO, passed away Friday, December 15, 2017 at his home.

Bob was born October 16, 1937 in Garfield, AR to Henry and Ansy {Mahurin} Lombard. On December 21, 1957 he was united in marriage to Sharon “Kay” Stewart, who survives. Also surviving are one son, Lindy Lombard and his wife Debbie of Wheaton, MO; one sister, Linda Belisle of Neosho, MO; two grandsons, Stuart Lombard and his wife Jessica and Taylor Lombard all of Wheaton, MO; three great-grandchildren, Maliah Kay Lombard, Ava Charli Lombard and Carter Wayne Lombard along with several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; one brother, Carrol Lombard and three sisters, Louise Wilkinson, Idella Trick and Betty Shockley.

Bob graduated from Wheaton High School in 1955. He began working for his father in the chicken catching business before becoming co-owner of Shockley-Lombard TV Repair in Wheaton. In 1960 he became an agent for MFA insurance, which is now Shelter Insurance. He and his wife Kay both retired from the insurance business after 42 years of service.

In 1955 he joined the Wheaton Fire Department where he served actively for 62 years. During this time he served the department as fire chief for 51 years. He also served as mayor for the City of Wheaton in the early 1970’s.

He was a loyal and active member of the Wheaton United Methodist Church since 1959.

He was founding member of the Ozark Gateway Fire Chief’s Association and the Barry County Fire Chief’s Association, serving as president of both.

He was instrumental in organizing Barry County 911 where he served as an original board member.

Bob also volunteered throughout the years in many organizations including the Wheaton Community Club, Wheaton School Booster Club, Wheaton Senior Citizens, Wheaton Industrial Development Committee, Wheaton Local Housing Authority and Barry County Meals on Wheels.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at the new Wheaton Fire Station on Highway W under direction of McQueen Funeral Home. Reverend Dan Shelton, Reverend Roger McKee and Reverend Bob Howard conducted the services. Burial at Muncie Chapel Cemetery in Wheaton.
