Eldora Evangeline White Chappell, 73, of Surgoinsville, TN, died peacefully at her home following a sudden period of declining health.

Eldora was born Jan. 15, 1944 to C. Clifford and Myrtle Hammonds White of Kingsport. She was a 1952 graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School. She attended church at “My Father’s House” with her family prior to an auto accident in 2013 that limited her mobility. She was a faithful friend and a loving mother and grandmother.

Eldora was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents, Joseph and Maude Hammonds of Kingsport and Henry and Carmie White of North Carolina.

She is survived by her husband and faithful caregiver Terry E. Chappell, daughter Donna L. Holtzclaw and husband Travis, sons Anthony Dwayne (Tony) Oaks also special granddaughter, Leeah Shea Oaks, and Jason R. Miller and wife Christen, eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, one brother, Clifford A. White and two sisters, Ramona O. White and Anita M. Bridwell.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm on Monday, December 18, 2017 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Church Hill. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 pm at Oak Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Ed Johnson officiating. Pall bearers will be family and friends. Memorial contributions may be made to Terry.
