Evelyn "Louise" Chance

San Angelo

Evelyn "Louise" Chance, age 78, went to be with the Lord on Dec. 8, 2017, just 3 months away from her 79th birthday. Born March 21, 1939, in a town called Massie, Texas, Mother was the sixth child of nine children. Her parents were Lee Chance and Della Mae Tate Chance. Mother was a baker. Some of the relatives would come by mom's house and eat pineapple cake, sweet potato pie, lemon pies, and her pound cake. She was a strong woman who raised her children not to be selfish. She was the matriarch of our family. Mother enjoyed church, was a prayer warrior, and she cleaned the church. She was a District Hospitality President for about two years. She sang in the choir at her home church in Ogden, Utah, and was a lead vocalist. She was saved under Late Pastor Elder S.U. Miller of Emmanuel Church of God in Christ in Ogden, Utah. When she left Utah, she came back to San Angelo, Texas and joined Deliverance Tabernacle Church of God in Christ under Superintendent Kenneth Weatherspoon. Mother believed in laying on of hands, and blessed oil. She was a lively stone.

Evelyn was preceded in death by sons, Larry Darnell Chance and Noel Russell Chance; her parents; her brothers, Robert Chance, James Chance, Charles Chance, Samuel Chance; and her sisters, Darlene Chance Hammork, Dorothy Chance McNally, Doris Chance Walker and Leona Chance Hurrington.

She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Carolyn Lynn Chance and Della Mae Ward; and one son, Elder Randy Chance. She also leaves to cherish her memory, her six grandchildren who she dearly loved, Christopher Chance, Ayishe Chance, Rashad Chance, Shermell Ward, Jamie Ward and Marissa Wolfe; two great-grandchildren, Xavier Williams and Ja'Quan White; and numerous nieces and nephews.

You are missed mother, and we love you so much!

Visitation is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, 2017, at Harper Funeral Home. Funeral service is at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 15, 2017, at New Jerusalem Church of God in Christ with burial to follow in Fairmount Cemetery.
