Julia Marie “Judy” Bowman, 93, of Richmond, MO died Thursday, December 14, 2017 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Judy was born on December 8, 1924 in Henrietta, MO one of twelve children, with a twin sister June to Michael Sylvester and Mary (Denning) Kraft. She married John C. “Jody” Bowman on June 3, 1946. He survives of the home. Additional survivors include; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Beverlee June and James Duvall of Lexington, MO, Patricia “Lynne” and Gary Bales of Kansas City, MO and Johnna Lee Johnson of Richmond; one sister, Earleene “Sug” Swafford of Richmond; five grandchildren and their spouses, Piper Sparks (Dr. James), Brett Duvall, Christopher Brown (Connie), Timothy Brown (Brandy), Brandon Bales; 10 great-grandchildren and their spouses, Robyn Tuwei (Alfred), James Duvall, Cullen Bryant, Mariah Bryant, Lauren Bryant, Devin Brown (Autumn), Jodie Marie Brown, Kathy Brown, Travis Brown and Mackenzie Brown; and 3 great-great-grandchildren, Nyla Tuwei, Emma Davis, Braxton Brown and one on the way.
In addition to her parents, Judy was preceded in death by six brothers, Ivan “Sonny” Kraft, Elwood Kraft, William “Wedge” Kraft, Marvin Kraft, John “Andy” Kraft and Clifford “Sap” Kraft; and five sisters, Helen Summers, Belle Kraft who died in infancy, Mary “Pete” Bowman, and June Hessenflow, her twin sister. Judy was a house wife and homemaker. Judy was a well-known area musician with her husband. She and Jody started playing music together before they were married. She played the guitar and Jody played the fiddle. Judy was also a fantastic seamstress; she made the girls wedding dresses and all kinds of clothes for the family. She was a member of the Richmond First Baptist Church. Judy lived in Ray County most of her life. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Richmond First Baptist Church Capital Campaign Building Fund. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 18, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Richmond First Baptist Church. Visitation will be Sunday, December 17, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Burial will be in the Wakenda Cemetery north of Hardin, MO
