Beth Joy Cole, 79 years of age, of Alma, Nebraska, (formerly of Stamford) passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Society Colonial Villa in Alma. Beth was born December 15, 1937 at Oxford, Nebraska, the fourth of ten children born to Floyd and Jessie C. (McConnell) Loose. She received her education from Oxford Community School, graduating from Oxford High School with the class of 1955.
On June 11, 1955, she was united in marriage to Maurice D. Cole, Sr., at Oxford, and to this union four children were born: Catherine, Cynthia, Maureen, and Maurice, Jr.
Beth then pursued her credentials to become a Nurses Aide. Throughout the years, she was employed at the Brewster Clinic, and then at Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege, Nebraska. After many years caring for patients as a nurse, Beth changed careers, and was employed by Becton-Dickson for 6 ½ years, before her semi-retirement. In addition to her nursing career, Beth was a Tupperware Sales Representative, where she was lead saleswoman in the district for several years.
Beth had a special way with children, and provided childcare for several families, and poured out her heart as she cared for several foster children as well.
In her spare time, Beth enjoyed gardening, attending flea markets, tractor shows, and auctions for many years. Most of all, she loved the time spent with her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
In early years, Beth was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Bertrand, where she taught Sunday school. Later in years, she was a member of the Baptist Church in Oxford; and attended the Evangelical Free Church in Oxford as well. In recent years, she enjoyed attending church when her health permitted at Trinity Lutheran Church in Stamford with her family.
In June of 2015, Beth began to make her home at the Villa in Alma, where she received loving care, and enjoyed attending Bible study.
She was preceded in death by five brothers: LeRoy, Wilford, Donald, Charlie, and Ronald Loose; two sisters: Barbara Hotaling, and Berniece Stegman; and sons-in-law: Steve Anderson, and E.J. Platt.
Beth leaves to celebrate her life; her husband, Maurice D. Cole, Sr. of Stamford; her four children: Catherine Bodenheimer and her husband, Gary of Elwood, Nebraska; Cynthia Anderson of Grand Island, Nebraska; Maureen Reyes and her husband, Xavier Reyes, Sr. of La Mesa, Texas; and Maurice D. Cole, Jr. and his wife, Stacey of Stamford; 9 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; one brother, Frank Loose and his wife, Ophelia of Denver, Colorado; one sister, Vickie Huggett and her husband, Paul of Bertrand; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
There will be no visitation or memorial book signing, the family is honoring her wish for cremation.
A memorial has been established in Beths honor, and will be designated at a later date.
