Met Christine through a church Easter production they both performed in Lansing. On March 19, 2011, Mark married the love of his life. They enjoyed taking their daughters on outings to zoos and museums, cider mills and art fairs. They loved spending time together as a family. Mark also would regularly take Adelaide on special, one-on-one daddy/daughter dates and was looking forward to the day when his baby daughter Emmeline would be old enough to take out on dates as well.

Mark and Christine were members of Riverview Church (REO Town Venue), where Mark served in one of the bands. He was a talented musician and over the years was a member of many different bands, playing guitar, piano, saxophone, and drums.
