Services for Howard L. Townsend, 75, Pierpont, were held Saturday afternoon, Nov. 3, at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Pierpont with the Rev. Hobart Skilbred officiating. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

He died November 1 at Dakota Midland Hospital in Aberdeen.

Mr. Townsend was born February 27, 1898, in Langford and was married to Marie Torguson at Chelsea October 20, 1925. He lived and farmed near Pierpont until ten years ago when he retired. He moved to Pierpont in 1969.

Survivors include his widow; two sons, Russell of Groton and Norman of Andover; four daughters, Mrs. Harold (Elaine) Herr of Webster, Mrs. Robert (Deloris) Herrick of Madera, Calif., Mrs. Luke (Anna Lu) Auen of Manhattan, Kan., and Mrs. Melvin (Velma) Pibal of Minneapolis; 27 grandchildren; two brothers, Frank of Portland, Ore., and Homer of Clearwater, Fla.; and one.....
