David Allen Downing was born December 27, 1989 in Pella, Iowa the son of Troy and Stacey (Wing) Downing.

David grew up in Cole Camp, Missouri. He graduated from Cole Camp R1 in 2008, where he lettered in football 3 years and also in track. He was awarded all conference football and all district football and Homecoming King in 2007. He operated his own lawn care service and later Downing Logging throughout Missouri and Iowa, moving to Iowa in 2011 to be with Cheyenne. He continued logging until starting Precision Construction. He constructed frame building and homes and created rustic wooden furniture. David and the love of his life and fiancé, Cheyenne Wooldridge, have three children: Adalynn, Allison and Brock and a son due in April. David was an amazing father and spouse in the six years they spent together. He and Cheyenne took the kids on many trips with no destination in mind, they loved to spend time together doing anything outdoors & having adventures in new places, they were always “on the go".

He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. David and his brother were inseparable and always enjoyed hunting, working or just hanging out with family and friends together. David had a big heart and a positive attitude to match, and was always helping others. Even in death, David gave the gift of life to strangers with his organ donation through the Iowa Donor Network.

David passed away on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at the Story County Hospital, in Nevada, Iowa, at the age of 27 years following a job site accident in Maxwell, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Joe Wing.

Those left to cherish David’s memory include his fiancé, Cheyenne Wooldridge and their children: Adalynn Jo, Allison Ann, Brock Stephen Allen, and a son due in April all of Pershing, mother, Stacey Wing of Pershing; father, Troy Downing of Marysville; brother Brent of Pershing; grandmother, Sherrl Wing of Pershing; grandmother, Kathy Robuck of Knoxville; great-grandmother Colleen Shawver of Pleasantville and many other family members and friends.

A funeral service for David Downing, age 27 of Pershing, will be held on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at the Celebrate Church, in Knoxville, at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in the Pleasantville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at the Celebrate Church. Memorials may be made to the family.
