He attended Homer Schools. On May 15, 1948, Lloyd married his best friend and the love of his life, Lois Gridley. Together, they farmed and raised five children, who all helped with farm chores. She preceded him in death on May 3, 2017.
Lloyd worked for the Eaton Company in Marshall for 27 1/2 years, and he retired in 1983. Along with working he and his wife Lois farmed in the Burlington area their whole life. Lloyd was a member of the Lyon Lake United Methodist Church, the Marshall Masonic Lodge, and the Marshall Moose Lodge. He loved camping at Tri-Lake Trails Campground, and he and his wife had been members since the campground opened. Lloyd love playing Pedro, bowling, and spending time with his friends and family.
He is survived by his children, Ron (Jan) Russell of Battle Creek, Kenny Russell of Union City, Larry (Glenys) Russell of Auburn, Indiana, Nancy Hamon of Burlington, and Randy Russell of Homer; seven grandchildren; several step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchild; and a brother Donald (Nora) Russell of Tekonsha.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and a brother Earl "Junior" Russell Jr.
Funeral services celebrating his life took place on Wednesday November 15, 2017 at the Kempf Funeral Home Marshall chapel with Reverend James Codde officiating. Interment followed at Lyon Lake Cemetery. Family will gather with friends following the committal services at the Kempf Funeral Home Reception.
