Laura Cunningham, age 62 years of Sterling, peacefully earned her angel wings Dec. 8, 2017, surrounded by her loving family.

Laura was born April 3, 1955, to the late Duncan Miller and Mabel Mogg in Caro. She married Edward Cunningham on July 22, 1972, and he survives. She retired from Globe Fire Sprinkler in Standish in 2014 after 20-plus years. To many, Laura's life may seem short, but those whose lives she touched in some small way throughout her memorable life understand the quality of existence exceeds the quantity of time one lives on earth.

Although her golden heart has stopped, she gave her family and friends courage and hope while also reminding us of the preciousness of life through her serene smile, gentle hands and giving heart. Laura had a great love for her pets, especially her Chihuahuas, spending time with her family and baking. She will be fondly remembered by her humorous personality.

Laura is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Edward Cunningham; their three children, Jerome (Ashely) Cunningham, Terra (Heath) Marvin and Rodney (Wanda) Cunningham; as well as a special friend she considered her own son, Chad (Tammy) Kitson. Also surviving are her eight grandchildren, Eddie, Sean, Chelsea, Tiara, Summer, Preston, Brayden and Briann; and great-grandson, Jonathan. Laura to the world was a mother and wife, but to her family she was the world and her legacy will live on through all of them.

The family of Laura would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Gladwin Pines and Heartland Hospice for the pristine care she received over the last several months.

Funeral service will be held Thursday, Dec. 14, 2017, at 11 a.m. at the Lee-Ramsay Funeral Home Standish Chapel with Elder Ladd White presiding with burial in Sterling Cemetery. The family will be present at the funeral chapel Wednesday from 2-8 p.m. and Thursday from 10 a.m. until time of services.
