Mr. Joe Evans, age 80, of Tallapoosa, GA, passed away December 12, 2017.
He was born September 16, 1937 to the late Hershel and Anna Whitman Evans.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Linda Evans.
Joe was a true cowboy and could always be found wearing his western clothes: a pair of boots and a cowboy hat. Like any cowboy he loved his horses and enjoyed riding, especially during his younger years. Mr. Evans worked as a blacksmith, and spent much of his free time at the sale barn purchasing and selling cows.
Joe is survived by his wife of 60 years, Barbara Collins Evans; a daughter and son-in-law, Denise and Hovie Roberts; a son, Joel Evans all of Tallapoosa, GA; two grandchildren and their spouses, Carmen and Joseph Halstead and Cody and Sarah Evans; four great-grandchildren, Brianna Halstead, Cayson Evans, Gracelyn Evans and Reyden Evans; and a brother, Warner "PeeWee" Evans of Buchanan, GA.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 15, 2017 at 4:30 PM EST from the Miller Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randy Robinson officiating. Eulogy will be given by Dakota Evans. Music will be provided by Jeffrey Hulsey.
Pallbearers serving are Lonnie Clayton, Joseph Halstead, Christian Evans, Keith Williams, Phillip Wade, Daniel Wade, Tim Collins, and Andy Johnson.
Honorary pallbearers are Charles Johnson, Glen Moore, and Rex Kennedy.
Interment will follow in Riverside Baptist Church Cemetery.
