Edith "Faye" Ryan
Born November 9, 1929 in Richlands Virginia, passed away December 11, 2017 at home at the age of 88. She was a dedicated wife, mother of three, grandmother and great-grandmother. Married to the love of her life Ray Homer Ryan for 65 years. She worked many years at A&P Grocery and Sears in Richlands. She and Ray then opened their own business selling wood burning stoves. She was the most kind, loving soul you could meet. She somehow always managed to keep her innocence in this crazy world. She could find the good in anyone or situation. It was common to find her singing and dancing while cooking or cleaning. She loved to read and always had a cat snuggled on her lap. Her favorite things were going to the beach but Faye would take any opportunity to go anywhere offered. She was an amazing cook and loved being with friends or at social functions. Part of her social circle was hanging out with her gals at Nancy's Beauty Shop. She was part of a bowling team, Rook Club and Home Demonstration. She attended Covenant Presbyterian Church. She is cherished by everyone who met her but at last she has returned to her loving husband Ray to continue their adventures. Special thanks to Jennifer for caring for and loving her for the last three years.

Survivors: Brother Henry Hooker, wife Peg. Son Jerry Ryan, wife Susan; Son, Michael Ryan, wife Nadine; Daughter, Elizabeth Ryan, companion Greg. Granddaughter Mary Ryan, fiancée Rory and Mary's children, Adriene, Kendall and Connor. Granddaughter Monica McCormick, husband Chris and their two children, Myles and Oliver. If you find yourself frustrated with the world, think “what would Faye do”, and try that. She managed 88 years of life without losing her calm and patience. She chose kindness and it worked.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 – 11:30 A.M. Saturday, December 16 at Singleton Funeral Service in Cedar Bluff, VA. Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:30 A.M. Saturday, at the Singleton Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Carl Howell officiating. Burial will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, VA. Pallbearers will be Jerry Ryan, Michael Ryan, Greg Ball, and Chris McCormick.

Donations may be made to Richlands Food Pantry 106 Veteran's Drive, Richlands, Virginia or Covenant Presbyterian Church 235 Mall Church Road, Cedar Bluff, Virginia.
