Ashley Lea Brooks departed this earth on June 29, 2017. She was born on December 7, 1985 to the welcoming arms of her loving family in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Her eager spirit as a young child always created a contagious energy to those around her. Ashley's love for the outdoors included hiking, camping, fishing and biking. The outdoors gave Ashley the opportunity to set her mind free and explore her love for the Colorado Mountains. Ashley's passion for Fire Service started at an early age and created an unbreakable bond with her Great-Grandfather Brooks. This passion would lead Ashley to enroll, volunteer and excel as a CSFD Explorer. She joined the Explorers at the tender age of 12 and the next six years would be the stepping stone in making her dreams come true. Ashley became a Professional Fighter at Cimarron Hills Fire Department; advanced to rank of Lieutenant and eventually would become Training Captain. Ashley is a 2004 graduate of Woodland Park High School. Her passions for music, her dog Jack, the Oregon Ducks and the color green were evident in the many posts she was so willing to share on her Facebook page. Ashley is survived by her wife, Shana Brooks, her parents, Craig Robert Brooks and Julie Brooks and her sister, Abbey Brooks. She also leaves behind, her maternal grandmother, Dixie Blake-Veggeberg, step-grandfather Ted Veggeberg, her wife's children, Shaniece Michele, Taylor Nichole, Breckin Cooper and mother-in-law Michele Meyer, as well as, her loving Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and Brothers & Sisters in service. She is preceded in death by her Great-Grandparents Orville and Irene Brooks, Grandparents Robert and Mary Ann Brooks, Grandfather Ernest Blake and Uncle Jeffrey Brooks. Public funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 5, at the Springs Community Church off of Woodmen and Lexington. Friends & Family are encouraged to go directly to Manitou City Hall for a celebration of Life reception, immediately following the service. The family will join shortly after a private burial at Crystal Valley Cemetery.
