Funeral services for Betty Jean Spears Womack, 82 years of age, of Buffalo, Texas, were held on Tuesday, December 12, 2017, at the First Baptist Church in Buffalo. Rev. Alan Grisham officiated.

Mrs. Womack was born January 29, 1935 in Spring, Texas to Mary Jane Raybourn and Leslie Owen Spears, and died on December 10, 2017 at her home surrounded by her husband, children and step-children. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Buffalo. On March 21, 1981 she married William Ray Womack and the couple celebrated 36 years together. She moved to Buffalo with her husband in 2004 and together they owned and operated the Double Tree Ranch in Buffalo. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Buffalo Chapter, #157. She grew up on a working dairy farm and graduated from Spring High School in 1953. During her career she worked for Harris County Tax Assessor, Carl Smith and various credit unions in the Houston area rising to the level of manager at SPCO Federal Credit Union. She also owned and operated two flower shops in the Houston area. Among her many hobbies, they included painting, travelling, hunting, and skiing. She particularly enjoyed going to Colorado to go skiing with her husband and family. She enjoyed spending time with her children, stepchildren, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Jane Rayburn and Leslie Owen Spears.

Survivors include her husband, William (Bill) Womack of Buffalo; her three sisters, Georgie Jurischk of Spring; Maurice Hoffmann of Cut-N-Shoot; and Mabel Westmoreland of Henderson; children, Jeanne Beers of Spring, Kathy Leggett of Lake Charles, Louisiana, and Wesley Salyers and wife Stacey of Houston; stepchildren, Glenn Womack of Buffalo and Vicki Johnson and husband Charley, of Buffalo; five grandchildren, K.C. Fabian of Spring, Lindsey Leggett of Lake Charles, Taylor Leggett of Lake Charles, Brittany Salyers of Spring, and Weston Salyers of Spring, Eleven great grandchildren, Layson Leggett of Lake Charles, Layken Leggett of Lake Charles, Hunter Hogan of Lake Charles, Karma Travis of Lake Charles, Glenn Womack, Jr. and wife Tamara of San Angelo, Dennis Womack and wife Samantha of Cleveland, TX, Derick Womack of Buffalo, Ryan Johnson of Dallas, Samantha Jo Johnson of Houston, Cole Johnson of Buffalo, Evan Johnson of Buffalo and Hank Johnson of Buffalo; One great grandchild, Cody Womack of The Woodlands. The family would like to specifically thank Carmelita Pate for the wonderful and loving care she provided to Betty for the last year. And a special thank you to Solaris Hospice Healthcare.
