Funeral service for SSG (Retired) Louis “Paul” Watson will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 14, 2017 at the Becker-Rabon Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Don Barnes, Pastor of Lawton First Assembly officiating.
Burial with full military honors will be Monday, December 18, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in the Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin under the direction of Becker-Rabon Funeral Home.
SSG (Retired) Louis “Paul” Watson, 71 died Friday, December 8, 2017 in Lawton, OK. He was born August 27, 1946 to Oscar and Edith Gann. Paul grew up in Apache and graduated from Apache High School. He married Josephine Piley September 1, 2000 in Lawton. Paul was an avid fisherman and hunter and also loved square dancing. He held jobs working maintenance at an apartment complex and also on Fort Sill in contract maintenance.
Paul was retired from the United States Army and fought in Vietnam as a Cannon Fire Direction Specialist. For his efforts in Vietnam Paul was decorated with the following: The National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Commendation Medal, The Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Palm (Unit), Overseas Service Bars-2, Good Conduct Medal-5, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Ribbon-2, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, and the Army Achievement Medal.
Paul is survived by his wife of the home, his children, son, Louis Paul Watson, Jr., daughters, Michelle Watson, Tammy White, Melissa Cherry, Monica Baker and husband Adam, Amanda Scofield and husband Chad, Marion Wetzel and William, Dawn Bishop and Jay, 23 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren, a sister Linda Bryant, brother Johnny Gann, and a brother-in-law John Young.
His parents, brothers, Jerry Gann and Charles Gann, and sisters, Carolyn Young and Lou Ann Gann preceded Paul in death. Paul was also preceded in death by his best friend Bill Cookingham.
