Rachel Shull Jackson “Boomba”, 96, of Spartanburg, SC, died Monday, December 11, 2017, at her home. Born May 10, 1921, in West Columbia, SC, she was the daughter of the late Edward A. and Daisy Foster Shull.

A member of Gravely Memorial United Methodist Church, Mrs. Jackson was a longtime member of The Sweet Adelines and loved singing with her daughters. She also loved to write poetry and decorate for each holiday. She was a graduate of Brooklyn-Cayce High School in West Columbia and retired as secretary of her husband’s business, Shook & Jackson Radio and TV.

Survivors include her husband of 75 years (on Christmas Day), Roy E. Jackson; daughters, Betty Jackson Ray of Boiling Springs, SC, Ruth Anne Jackson Christopher (Kenneth) of Duncan, SC, and Kathy Jackson Crocker of Chesnee, SC; 7 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a daughter and son-in-law, Jane Rachel Jackson Cothran and Robert Donald “Donnie” Cothran Sr.; son-in-law, Woodrow Wilson Crocker; and siblings, Alice, Marie, and Edward.

Visitation will be 2:00-2:45 PM Wednesday, December 13, 2017, at Floyd’s North Church Street Chapel, 235 N. Church St., Spartanburg, SC 29306 with funeral services following at 3:00 PM. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307.
