Funeral services for “Hammer” James W. Hatchett, age 68, are scheduled for 2 PM, Thursday, December 14, 2017 in the chapel of Pafford Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Old Bethel Cemetery.

Mr. Hatchett passed away early Monday at his home in Lexington. He was born September 14, 1949 in Henderson County to the late Charles Hubert and Verna Mae Pratt Hatchett. He was an U. S. Army Veteran serving in Vietnam and retired from TWRA. He loved Jesus, family, and farming.

He was preceded in death by brother, Charles “Mousey” Hatchett and sister, Betty Kyle. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Diane McCollum Hatchett; one daughter, Emily Kaye Hatchett; three sons, Walter “Dutch” Hatchett (Jessica), James “Cotton” Hatchett, and Billy Jack Hatchett (Jessica); brother, Floyd Ray Hatchett (Darlene); sisters: Charlene Hardin, Rita Stanford (Jerry), Doris Johnson (Don), Bridget Roach (Kenny), Cindy Garner (Glen), and Vicky Holmes (Ronnie); twelve grandchildren, Jamil, Jaleel, Khalid (Melissa), and Jameela Rahman, Jullianne, Ray, Riley, James Clayton, Carson, Trevor, John, and Jack Hatchett; and two great grandchildren, Kennedy and Ishmael Rahman.
