Grace L. Murphy, age 97, died Monday December 11, 2017 at the Bland-Bekkedal Center for Hospice Care in Viroqua.
Grace Lorraine Murphy, age 97 of Gays Mills, formerly of Rolling Ground passed away peacefully on Monday, December 11, 2017 surrounded by her family.

Grace was born on October 8, 1920 in the log home on the family farm of rural Soldiers Grove. She was the daughter of Martin and Cathrine (Flynn) Monahan.

On January 3, 1940, she married Paul Murphy at St. Philip Catholic Church, Rolling Ground.
Along with raising seven children, Grace worked very hard on the family farm. After farming, Grace worked 12 years at Sannes Skogdalen Nursing Home in Soldiers Grove making many friends.
After Paul passed away in 1998, Grace moved to Gays Mills in 2001. Grace had a great love for her entire family and always looked forward to the Sunday night family gathering. Grace always welcomed family and friends with open arms.

Grace is survived by her four sons, Phil (friend Carol), Tunnel City, Bill (Margo), Gays Mills, Pat (Amy), Rolling Ground, Ron (Bonnie), Rolling Ground; and two daughters, Jane (Mick) Killoy, Boaz, and Mary Kay (Rob) Babb, Gays Mills; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Nina Hoffland, Elaine Bowers; brother-in-law, Lyall Hehn; special niece, Sharon (Bob) Charles and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Grace was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul; son, Rich (1963); daughter in law, Nancy; great granddaughter, Bronwyn; great grandson, Ethan; and all of her eleven brothers and sisters, Bill, Mary (Mike) Duggan, Helen (Pat) Doyle, Joe (Marie) Monahan, Bertha (Lavon) Eaton, Leo (Ann) , Nora (Claire) Nugent; infant brother, Pat, Walter (Marianna), Maxine (Ed) Cody, and Bernard.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, December 14 at 11a.m. at St. Philip Catholic Church, 42678 Store Road, Soldiers Grove, near Rolling Ground. Father Zacharie Beya will officiate the Funeral Mass. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday, December 13 from 4-8 pm with a family Rosary at 3:45 pm. and from 10 a.m. on Thursday until the time of the service at the church.

The family wishes to thank Bland-Bekkedal Hospice Care for their loving care of Grace during her final journey.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks to remember Grace by donating to St. Philip Cemetery Association, St. Philip Parish, Bland-Bekkedal Hospice, North Crawford Rescue Squad or Ocooch First Responders.
