Fuquay-Varina - Herbert Wilkerson Lawrence, 78, passed away on Friday, December 8, 2017. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, December 11, 2017 at Piney Grove Baptist Church, 3217 Piney Grove Wilbon Road, Fuquay-Varina. Family will receive friends following the service.
Wilkie was born in Harnett County to the late Paul and Ruth Austin Lawrence and also was preceded in death by his son, Herbie Lawrence and sister, Ann Ragan.
Mr. Lawrence served in the US Army. He was retired from PSNC Energy. He was a loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather and will be missed greatly by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Judy Harper Lawrence; daughter, Cindy Mays and husband, Ryan of Angier, NC; grandchildren, Army Specialist Hunter Nelms, Hailey Nelms and Sarah Mays; brothers, Bill Lawrence and wife, Juanita of Garner, NC, Charles Lawrence and wife, Janet of Raleigh, NC, Bud Lawrence and wife, Ann of Holly Springs, NC, John Lawrence of Fuquay-Varina, NC; sister, Linda Baucom and husband, Joe of Lillington, NC.
