Albany, OR - Charles "Chuck" Braziel passed away on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at the age of 79 in Albany, Oregon, with his family by his side. Chuck fought a strong battle against five different cancers during an eight year period, succumbing to liver cancer. Chuck was born in the Township of Bear, Arkansas, on February 23, 1938, to Arthur and Ruth Braziel, the fifth of six children. At the age of seven he moved with his family to the Willamette Valley settling in the Monmouth-Independence area. He was a resident of Monmouth, Oregon, for many years until recently moving to Albany to live with his daughter and family. Chuck enjoyed his final months before passing spending quality time and reconnecting with his daughter, granddaughters, brothers and nieces. His great joy was spending time and playing with his new great granddaughter, Charlotte.

Chuck graduated from Central High School in 1955, briefly attended Oregon Institute of Technology in Klamath Falls, before joining the National Guard Reserves, stationed in Rucker, Alabama.

Chuck married Patty Drydale on March 15, 1963. They had one daughter, Matie.

Chuck married a second time and married Marlyn Russell on December 26, 1986, they later separated in 2017.

Throughout his lifetime Chuck was employed by Georgia Pacific, City of Independence and Akzo Nobel, from which he retired in 2000. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Ruth, sister Velda, brothers Jim and Norvell.

Chuck is survived by his daughter Matie Dougherty (Vaughn) of Albany, granddaughter Christine Kennedy (Tyler) of Albany, granddaughter Haleigh Gilchrist (Austin) of Albany and great-granddaughter Charlotte Gilchrist of Albany. He is survived by his brothers Stanley Braziel of Salem and Bobby Braziel (Sally) of Dallas, Oregon.

Visitation will be held at Farnstrom Mortuary on Friday, November 24, 4 pm-6 pm. Chuck's service will be held at Farnstrom Mortuary on Saturday, November 25 at 1:00pm. Interment to follow at English Cemetery, Monmouth, Oregon. Online memories and condolences may be sent to FarnstromMortuary.com.
