02/11/1931 - 11/30/2017

Doug originated in New York, then moved to CA where he met his wife of almost 40 years Jeri Bates (92). After months of dating Jeri had started leaving various things at his house and joked if her microwave was there she’d have everything she needed to move in. Later Doug used the key to her apartment and took her microwave while she was at work. Living nearby he invited Jeri over for lunch on her break from work and she was surprised to see her microwave sitting in his kitchen. Jeri stayed by his side until his last breath and she will love him until she takes hers.

Doug was dearly loved by not only his wife, but also his family - 3 Children, 7 Grandchildren, 14 Great-Grandchildren, 5 Great-Great-Grandchildren. Doug and his wife raised one of their granddaughters, Tessa. Standing tall at 6’6 Doug raised many of the children in the family up onto his shoulders, where they felt they were walking with a giant.

After retiring as a milkman, Doug started building cabinets from his shop at home. Doug and Jeri traveled the country in their motor home, they were also avid bowlers and square dancers. Doug lived a full life, filled with love and adventure. He will be deeply missed, but we know he is now resting in peace.

Memorial Service will take place on Friday, December 8th at 10am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 1655 Noreen Drive, San Jose, CA 95124.
