James "Harold" Hembree, age 85, passed away peacefully at his home December 10, 2017.

Harold was raised in Townsend, TN. He proudly served in the U.S. Army. Harold worked and retired from Blount Memorial Hospital after 37 years of service.

Preceded in death by: parents, John N. & Nellie (Henry) Hembree; sister, Ruth Massey; brothers, Carl Hembree, Glenn Hembree, & Wendell Hembree.

He is survived by: wife of 62 years, Peggy Irwin Hembree; daughter, Janice (Jerry) Garner; son, Sam Hembree; grandchildren, Mychal (Katie) Hembree, Aimee Hembree Cooper, Chelsea Garner, and Julie Garner; great-grandchildren, Taylor Hembree, Connor Hembree, Ethan Hembree, Bailey Cooper, and Bryson Cooper; sister, Lois Reagan of Townsend; brother-in-law, Warren Massey; sisters-in-law, Gloria Hembree, Eula Hembree, and Joyce Hembree; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family would like to express many thanks to the CRU and Hospice nurses from Blount Memorial Hospital. Family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:30 PM, Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at Smith Trinity Chapel. Funeral service will be at 2:30 PM with Rev. Greg Long officiating. Family and friends will assemble for interment at 3:00 PM, Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at Grandview Cemetery.
