Raymond E. Hicks, age 83, of Oxford, GA, formerly of Richlands, VA, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Saturday, December 9, 2017 surrounded by his family. He was born April 27, 1934 in Richlands, VA and was the son of the late Lou Davis Hicks Adkins. Raymond worked at Mattie Williams Hospital and Washington Square Clinic before moving to Georgia where he worked for Rockdale Newton Citizen Newspaper before retiring.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by two special aunts, Gussie Hicks and Myrtle Hicks; one sister, Ramona Martin.

Raymond is survived by his loving wife, Margaret Whitt Hicks; two sons, Mark Hicks and wife Natosha, Tim Hicks and wife Heather; seven grandchildren, Blake, Sara, David, Mason, Emma, Shardyn, and Abigale all of GA; one brother, Mike Adkins of Richlands, VA; one sister, Brenda Adkins Killen and husband Frank of Dinwiddie, VA; sisters-in-law, Frances Crouse of Cedar Bluff, VA, Doris Messick and husband Glen of Covington, GA; brother-in-law, Dan Whitt and wife Carolyn of Richlands, VA; several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends also survive.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 9:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 12 at Singleton Funeral Service in Cedar Bluff, VA. Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, at the Singleton Funeral Service Chapel with Pastor Lynnhead of GA, Pastor Rick Whitt, Pastor Phillip Horton officiating. Burial will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, VA. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
