Katherine Joyce Townsend age 68, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 7, 2017. She was born in Baytown, Texas on March 21, 1949 to Gertrude Strokos Rutledge and Carlton Rutledge.
She enjoyed crossword puzzles, playing card games and cooking, but most of all, spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was always a very kind, sweet, loving, people person and will be loved and missed by all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James Roger Townsend and her sisters, Peggy Dencause and Brenda Kay Owen.
Katherine is survived by her children, Sheila Townsend (and husband, James) and Charles Massey (and wife, Melody); her brothers, Calvin Rutledge (and wife, Jenni) and Richard Rutledge (and wife, Charlotte); her grandchildren, Jamie Reynolds (and husband, Gentry), James Jr. and John Townsend, David and Angelica Holley and Addison Howard; her great-grandchildren Jesse, Trinity and Brenden Cash and Gentry Reynolds Jr. Also survived by other relatives and many friends.
A visitation for family and friends will be held at Sterling-White Funeral Home 11011 Crosby-Lynchburg Rd. Highlands, on Wednesday evening December 13, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Services will be held in Sterling White Funeral home on Thursday morning December 14, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in Sterling White Cemetery.
