George Walter Paul, Jr., age 83, of Lexington was born on December 5, 1934 and died December 9, 2017. He was the son of the late George Walter Paul, Sr. and Elizabeth Bridges Paul. He was predeceased by his wife Alice Slay Paul. He is survived by his son, Jimmy Paul qof Lexington, granddaughter Robbie Paul of Watkinsville, one sister Rosa NeeSmith (Roger), niece Beth NeeSmith, and nephew Paul NeeSmith, all of Lexington.

Mr. Paul, a life-long farmer, was a graduate of Arnoldsville High School, a member of Burts United Methodist Church and a member of the Oglethorpe County Senior Center Advisory Board. He was also owner of operator of Paul's Barbecue in Lexington, GA for 30 years.

The Funeral service for Mr. Paul will be held Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at 2:00PM with instate at 1:00PM at Lexington Baptist Church located 103 Church St. Lexington, GA 30648, Rev. Charles G. Jones, Pastor. Officiating Pastors are Pastor Les Oglestreet and Pastor Ann Hansen. Interment will be held in Clarke Cemetery, Lexington, GA. Visitation will be Monday, December 11, 2017 from 6:00-8:00PM at Barrett Funeral Home - Oglethorpe, 1064 Athens Road, Crawford 30630.

Pallbearers: Horace Wise, Lee Henson, Tyrone Henson, Terry Gresham, Paul NeeSmith, and Randall Andrews.

Honorary Pallbearers: Bud Moon, James Matthews, Walter McCannon, and Ralph Peterman.

In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the Oglethorpe County Senior Center c/o Dee Pelewski, 19 Oglethorpe Dr., Crawford, GA 30630. Services entrusted to Barrett Funeral Home - Oglethorpe Chapel, 706-743-6177.
