Lloyd Elmo Sims of Heavener, Oklahoma was born July 29, 1925 in Heavener, Oklahoma to Elmo and Bertha Mae (Victor) Sims and passed away December 9, 2017 at the Oklahoma Veterans Center in Norman, Oklahoma at the age of 92.

He is survived by:

Karen Ward and husband Ronnie of Tuttle, Oklahoma

One son:
Tim Sims and wife Donna of Poteau, Oklahoma

One brother and Best Friend:
Hershal Sims and wife Atha of Waldron, Arkansas

Two sisters:
Patsy Elder and husband Morris of Glendale Community
Glenda Elder and husband Sherman of Muskogee, Oklahoma

Five grandchildren:
Brad Neal and wife Penny of Beggs, Oklahoma
Joanna Roberts of Plano, Texas
Dustin Ward and wife Kasey of Mustang, Oklahoma
Lindsay Farris and husband Jeremy of Tuttle, Oklahoma
Sami Jo Sims of Poteau, Oklahoma

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmo and Bertha Mae Sims; his wife, Velma Pauline "Ollar" Sims; two sisters, Gracie Crownover and Verna Blackwell. Lloyd was a life-long resident of the area, a member of the Independence Baptist Church, and retired as owner and operator of Lloyd's Radio and TV Service. He was a veteran of the World War II era, where he served in the Pacific aboard the Transport Ship Rochambeau for the United States Marine Corps. Lloyd loved spending time with his family and friends, especially on Wednesdays and Sundays when he and his brother, Hershal would go to Poteau for burgers and ice cream. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. Lloyd will be greatly missed.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 15, 2017 at the Independence Baptist Church in Heavener, Oklahoma with Reverend Billy Watkins officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Heavener, Oklahoma under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener, Oklahoma.

Pallbearers will be: Brad Neal, Dustin Ward, Bud Sims, Jeremy Farris, Ryan Roberts, and Austin Neal.

Viewing will be from noon until 8:30 p.m., Tuesday; 8:30 a.m. until 8:30 p.m., Wednesday and Thursday; and 8:30 a.m. until noon, Friday. The family will meet with friends on Thursday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
