Kenneth E. “Kenny” Reeder, formerly of Newberry, passed peacefully into God’s loving hands, Thursday, Dec. 7, 2017, at the Gatehouse in Divine Providence Hospital. He was born Jan. 28, 1927, in his former Newberry home, a son of George H. and Jennie M. Scott Reeder Sr.
Ken was a veteran of World War II serving in the Army, and in 1950 enlisted in the Air Force where he served during the Korean War as a jet mechanic. After the war Ken was the owner of Ken’s Korner Market in Newberry and later worked many years at Vidmar and Bethlehem Steel.
Ken was a 69 year member of the American Legion Post No. 617 in South Williamsport, was a life member of the NRA and a member of the Thousand Yard Club in Trout Run. He was an avid long range hunter and loved going for long rides in his Lincoln. He knew every back road in Lycoming Co., if he got lost he used to say the road comes out somewhere!
He is survived by the love of his life the former Lois Sheets, and together resided at the Meadows for the past year; his stepchildren, Jack L. (Karen) Fessler and Gina L. (Carl) Myers; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Nancy (Losch) Reeder and nieces and nephews.
Ken was predeceased by his parents; sisters, Margaret Palermo and Lois Bonnell; brothers, Bud, Bob, and George, niece, Janis Boyles Foresman; nephew, Robert Scott Reeder; and a stepson, Steve W. Fessler.
Interment: Twin Hills Memorial Park.
