Ina Hawkins was born in Salem, Ill, July 19, 1868 and was the oldest of six children. She came to Kansas with her parents in 1887 and they resided for several years in Haskell county. In later years the family removed to Raymond.

February 28, 1888 she was united in marriage to Aaron M Herbold and to this union was born eight children, one of whom died in infancy. The family moved to Great Bend in 1906 and resided here since that time. The death of Mr. Herbold occured December 14, 1924.

Mrs Herbold had not been ill prior to her death. She and her granddaughter Mrs. Louis Gilmore, had shopped and visited with firends uptown in the afternoon the day of her death. She died at 9 o'clock the evening of November 13, 1946 at her home, 809 Hubbard, at the age of 78 years, three months and 24 days.

She is survived by seven children, Mrs. Barbara Forbes, Mrs Winnifred Wilkerson, Mrs. Edith Weathers and D. Herbold of Great Bend, Mrs Ella Wietrick of Lamar, Colorado, Mrs Beulah Eicher of Wichita and Paul Herbold of Tacoma Washington. One brother, Harry Hawkins of Sterling, and two sisters, Mrs. Ala Heminger of Oklahoma City and Mrs. Elsie Williamson of Sugar City, Colorado, 20 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at the Burgat-Hulme Mortuary at 3 o'clock November 18, 1946. Burial was in the Great Bend cemetery.
