Shirley Y. Garner, 79, of Mount Joy, passed away peacefully and quietly on Thursday, December 7, 2017 surrounded by loved ones at Masonic Villages, Elizabethtown. Born in Taney Town, MD, she was the daughter of the late Robert B. and Helen M. (Hubert) Eichler. Shirley was the wife of the late Jack E. Garner Sr. who passed away on November 20, 2011.
Shirley owned Jack Garner & Sons Welding Inc. of Mount Joy and the former Colonial Inn Rest. Marietta. Many know her as a member of the Lancaster Co. Farmers Assoc., the PA Farmers Assoc. and Rape Aid & Prevention. Shirley and Jack traveled all over the USA and Europe. Shirley loved growing orchids, sharing her hospitality, cooking and crocheting was enjoyed by many. Shirley’s biggest joys were her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Shirley will be deeply missed by her family and devoted friends, Jack Garner Jr. (Joi Shearer) of Mount Joy, Jeff Garner (Debra Blechinger) of Manheim, Jerry Garner (Trisha Crider) of Elizabethtown and Tina Tanner (Scott Tanner) of SC; her grandchildren, Dallas Durant, Meggan Humphrey, Jamie Boyer, Jenna Ross, Kahlen Garner, Joell Garner, Kelsey-Lane Benner, Kylie Garner and Brycen Tanner; great grandchildren, Justin Garner, Regan, Rowen and Riley Ross, Charlie and Nora Kate Durant, Colton and Easton Boyer, Jack Humphrey and Adelyn Benner; friends, Timothy Crider (Michelle McNutt) of York, Marcie Packard, NC, Gail Fridy of Marietta, and Broc and Logan Crider.
A funeral service honoring Shirley’s life will be held at the Sheetz Funeral Home, Inc. 16 East Main Street, Mount Joy, on Monday, December 11, 2017 at 11 AM. Family and friends will be received at the funeral home before the service from 9:30 AM to 11 AM. Interment will follow at Laurel Hill Memorial Gardens.
