Sandy was a thirty year employee of the Buncombe County Sheriff's Department, retiring with the rank of LT. Sandy held many positions with the Department and was known by her associates as a professional fully dedicated employee in all of the various positions she held during thirty years of service, which included training many of those who began their career with the department. Most of the comments received by the family following Sandy's passing referred to her as "Sweet Sandy".
One special comment received was: "Today, I am thinking of my sweet friend Sandy. She was truly one of the sweetest and most caring people I have ever known. She always had a smile for everyone and a caring attitude, regardless of their place in life whether it was an associate, friend, family or someone who's place had come to that of dealing with law enforcement."
Sandra was predeceased by her parents, Rankin and Emily Franklin Wallin.
She is survived by her husband Thomas (Tom) Clementson; brother Dr. Edgar V. Wallin (Jane) of Chesterfield, VA; sister, Janice Wallin Ramsey (Boyce) of Asheville, NC; nephews, Venson Wallin (Sharon) of Chesterfield, VA, and Darren Johnson (Meg) of Charlotte, NC; and great-nephew, Troy Wallin of Chester Field, VA.
A funeral service is scheduled for Monday, December 11th at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. at 12:30 p.m.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Western Carolina State Veteran's Cemetery in Black Mountain.
