A former Wellington man, Jack Atkinson, 55, died Sunday, January 4. He had been ill since September.

Born at Wellington October 17, 1925, he was the son of Mrs. Virgie Atkinson of Pampa and the late John Atkinson. He graduated from Wellington High School with the Class of 1942 and entered the Navy, serving through World War II.

Through high school he had worked for A.L. Cochran in Cochran's Drug and for Sandy Parsons Jr., of Parsons Drug. He graduated from Southwestern Oklahoma State University, Weatherford, Okla., with a degree in pharmacy.

Atkinson lived for a number of years in Panhandle before moving to Amarillo four years ago, where he was a pharmacist with Albertsons, and a pharmaceutical consultant
to St. Anne's Home in Panhandle. He was a member of the Panhandle and Texas Pharmaceutical Association, a former member of the Panhandle City Commission a member of the United Methodist Church, Logan Lion's Club, former president of Panhandle Lions, and director of Boy Scout Troop 1, Panhandle.

Survivors are his wife, Wilma, of Amarillo; two sons, Jeff of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Brad of San Angelo; and his mother, Mrs. Virgie Atkinson of Pampa.
