Mrs. Ethel Gray Woods was born August 11, 1938 in Marengo County, AL. She went home to be with the Lord November 25, 2017 peacefully at her residence in Kalamazoo, MI. She accepted Christ as her personal Savior at a very young age. Ethel relocated to Kalamazoo, MI in the 1960’s. She was employed at Borgess Medical Center as a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for 32 year, receiving many achievements and awards during this time.

On November 5, 1960, Ethel was united in Holy Matrimony to Richard Herman Woods in Kalamazoo, MI.

Ethel was a faithful member of The Galilee Baptist Church, and served on the Nurses Guild, until her health failed. She loved to study the Word of God and would attend Galilee’s bible study class. Ethel loved to spend time with her family during family gathering where she was known for her cooking. During these get-togethers, she would also try different recipes, but everyone looked forward to her homemade rolls and delicious desserts. She loved to work on creative projects with her hands, such as sewing, knitting and crocheting. She was also very skilled at word search puzzles, and she finished many puzzle books to prove it! Ethel had a strong gentle spirit about her and was full of wisdom, which she shared often with her family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Herman Woods; her parents, and her sister, Daisy Moore.

She leaves to cherish her memories: two sons, Michael of Kalamazoo and Ricky (Kherri) of Mobile, AL; three grandchildren, Carresha (Cameron), Jeremy and Darius; one great grandson, Jayshawn; one godson, Charles III; 4 sisters, Minnie Ozier of Flint, MI; Nettie Lockett and Lola Lockett of Dixon Mills, AL; Jackie Shaw of Kalamazoo, MI; two sister-in-laws, Adell Banks of Waukegan, IL and Lillie Daniel of Kalamazoo, MI; two brother-in-laws, Bert Woods of Kalamazoo, MI and Mitchell (Artelia) Woods of Waukegan, IL and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
