Arlene Frances Farley Baker passed to the open arms of her Lord and Savior on December 6, 2017. She was born on March 20, 1940 in Castle Hill, the daughter of Alton H Farley Sr and Muriel Alley Farley. She was the oldest daughter of 7 children.
She married the love of her life, Lloyd W Baker, on August 30, 1956. Together they raised three sons, Steven, Stanley, and Jeffrey. Her adult vocation was as an institutional cook at various colleges, hospitals, and nursing homes. She passed her leisure time sewing, crocheting, quilting, and gardening. She was well known for growing tomato plants that were all budded and had tiny tomatoes on them when they were transplanted from her green house to the garden. Anything that came out of that garden was either eaten, canned, or frozen. Nothing went to waste. Her sons always claimed she put onions, from the garden, in everything she cooked. Even the cakes.
Arlene is survived by her second husband Wayne Tardie of Limestone, her three sons and their spouses; Steven and Nadeen Baker of Augusta, Stanley and Alison Baker of Glenburn, and Jeffrey and Kelly Baker of Deltona, FL, a brother and sister in law Braighton and Rena Farley of Washburn, 7 grandchildren and their spouses; Mark and Ashley Baker, Bradley Baker and Andrea Blanchette, Melinda Baker, Joshua and Meagan Baker, Brian and Breanna Baker, Brian and Angela Baker Parks, and Adam and Jessica Baker Champion. 11 great grandchildren; Jennifer and Mallory Parks, Timothy and Abigail Baker, Madysen, Josiah, and Jonah Baker, and Saylah and Levi Baker, Atticus and Kinslee Champion.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband of 53 years, Lloyd, brothers; Russell, Alton Jr, Dana, and James, a sister Crystal Swope, and several Aunts, Uncles, and cousins, a special cousin Catherine Tilley who was like a sister to her.
A graveside service will be held later in the spring at Riverside Extension, Washburn.
