Roger Lee Russell, Sr., 80, of Olton, passed away on December 4, 2017 in Denton, Texas.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at the First Baptist Church of Olton. Interment will be held at 4:00 at Plainview Memorial Park under the direction of Lemons Funeral Home.

The family will receive visitors at the Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 8, 2017.

Roger was born July 23, 1937 in Hugo, Oklahoma to Roosevelt and Lucille (McCarty) Russell. He married Lucy Mae Phylow on December 15, 1956 in Petersburg. They were married until her passing on June 15, 1998. Roger was a farmer for all his adult life and left that as a legacy to his family. He was a hard-working man who provided for those he loved. He will always be remembered for his motto; “Don’t put off what you can do today, because you aren’t promised tomorrow, and “You may be ‘give-out’ but don’t ever give up!”.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy; two sons, Tommy Lee Russell and Charles Edward Russell; one granddaughter, Leann Russell; one brother, Bobby Russell and three sisters, Rosie Mae Sims, Etta Mae Wooley and Dorothy Nell Russell.

Those left to cherish his memory are six daughters, Doris Jean McGee and husband Ben of Plainview, Mary Jean Nwagbara and husband Kevin of Denton, Jennifer Baker and husband Phillip of Denton, Doris Dean Russell of Amarillo, MaeLouise Russell and Lisa Russell, both of Plainview; six sons, Roger Russell, Jr. and wife Cindy, David Russell and wife Dolores and Alfred Russell, all of Olton, Gary Russell of Plainview, Kevin Russell and wife Pheadra of Dallas and James Russell, II of Amarillo; 24 grandchildren, Kaeshla Peña, Chontell Hopkins, Payton Russell, Ladondra Hervey, Whitlee Russell, David Shay Russell, Kimberly Russell, Ryland Russell, Devin Russell, Tommecia McGee, Micki Price, Jadyn Nwagbara, Jordyn Nwagbara, Vanda McAdoo, Thomas McAdoo, Natasha Russell, Jackie Russell, Ashley Russell, Apree Molden-Russell, Avree Russell, Roman Russell, James Russell, Jr., James Russell, III, Crystal Russell and great-grandchildren, Ben McGee-Watters, Mikayla McGee Duncan, Isaiah Price, Joseph Price, Takayla Williams, Margo Peña, Kaleeb Hervey, Jayla Hervey, Asia Russell, Ashton Russell, Kelli Russell, Adadrian Russell, Aubreana Russell, Alexis Russell, Bentley Russell, Amarion Russell, Kaleah Russell, Jayven Russell, Jameer Russell, Jazzlynn Russell, Leosha Russell, Jordynn Russell, Jada Russell and Reese Russell.
