Floyd graduated from Towanda High School with class of 1965. He was employed at the A & P Supermarket when he was drafted by the Selective Service Board #35-34-46-364. When he appeared on 18 January 1966 at Wilkes-Barre he was drafted into the US Marines.
Floyd was the only son of Floyd and Mary. He didn't have to go Vietnam but he volunteered. Arriving in Vietnam Floyd was assigned to Mike Company, 3rd Battalion, 26th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division. Mike Company was in a patrol 8 kilometers south of Phong Dien when they were engaged by hostile forces. Floyd was wounded at approximately 0903H by a shot to the forehead and left leg by a hostile sniper. After immediate medical treatment he was transported to the USS Repose Hospital Ship where he died at approximately 1300H, 2 February 1967 from the wounds that he sustained 24 January 1967.
