She worked as a stenographer at Marion Power Shovel Co. directly out of high school in 1942. In 1957, she went back to work as the secretary to the senior minister at Epworth United Methodist Church, working there for 12 years. In 1970, she became the secretary for the director of client relations at Floyd Browne and Associates, working there for 21 years. After moving to Columbus in 1990, she worked at Epcon Realty as an open house hostess until she was 88 years of age.
Faithful member of Bethel United Methodist Church where she was involved in Bible studies, helping with children and serving the needs of others whenever she could.
Survived by son, Jack (Evelyn) Porter of Dawsonville, GA; daughter, Janet (Bill) Howard of Marysville, OH; six grandchildren, Todd (Vina) Porter, Kevin (Addie) Porter, Brittney (Kent) Greer, Kelly (Robert) Hammersmith, Chad (Melissa) Porter and Gina (Jeremy) Dietz; twelve great-grandchildren whom loved her dearly.
Preceded in death by beloved husband, Ervin Bovell Porter and her eight siblings.
