Ann Laura Osberg, 95, of Rockford, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at Cherryvale Place. Born on November 22, 1922, in Rockford, the daughter of Robert and Laura (Hoey) Burtch. Ann was a graduate of East High School, class of 1941. She married Stanley C. Osberg on September 21, 1942, in Rockford. He predeceased her on May 10, 1998. Ann worked as a cashier for many years at Guilford High School in the cafeteria and also at her son's catering business, Chiles Catering. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and had been attending Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Ann was an avid golfer for most of her life.
Survived by: daughter, Pam Larson; sons, Kraig (Jane) Osberg and Mark (Wendy) Osberg; grandchildren, Debra (Dan) Erwin, Deana Collum of Rockton, Donna Oliver, Tania (Brad) Lagesse, Ken (Chris) Osberg, and Eric (Emily) Osberg; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by: parents; husband; siblings, Walter "Buzz" (Gert) Burtch, Dorothy (Art) Smith, Robert (Fran) Burtch, and Jeannette Burtch; and son-in-law, David Larson.
Funeral Services on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 in Fred C. Olson Chapel. Burial in Scandinavian Cemetery. Obituary information from Olson Funeral Home.
In 1940 Ann was an active member of the Women's Ambulance Safety Patrol Unit #1 Rockford Illinois. W.A.S.P. were trained for a possible Homeland or natural disaster. They learned to drive & maintain the ambulances; able to change oil, tires & lube the chassis. They learned first aid, canteen cooking, convoy driving, map reading & had rifle training. The W.A.S.P. concept spread coast to coast in 17 communities in 15 states. info: [email protected]
