Willie Guyman “Blackie” Patton, 70, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 5, at an Oklahoma City hospital.

Blackie was born on Sept. 25, 1947, in Matador, Texas, to Uell Dean and Dorothy Patton. He was an auto mechanic in his youth, he worked as a driller for Ardmore Drilling for several years, and in 1985, he went to work for Southern Oklahoma Water Corporation as a water plant operator and laboratory technician, until he retired in 2015.

He and the former Glenda Sue Moerbe were married in 1973 here in Ardmore.
On top of being an avid wild hog and deer hunter, Blackie was a self-taught history buff; he always had a story to tell! He will be fondly remembered by his family and friends as the guy who knew a little bit about everything.

Blackie is survived by his wife, Sue Patton; a daughter and son-in-law, Shelley and Allen Wissinger, of Wayne, Okla.; a son and daughter-in-law, Shane and Lauren Patton, of Ardmore, Okla.; son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Kathy Harrell, of Middleburg, Fla.; grandchildren, Sophia Patton, Steven Hodge, Amber Hodge, Hannah Wissinger, Colby Wissinger, and Michael Harrell; and many beloved great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Johnny Patton, of Milburn, Okla., and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, December 9, at 11:00 a.m. at the Eastman Cemetery with Reverend David Gardner officiating.
Services under the direction of the Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home and Crematory were condolences may be made at www.hdouglasfuneralhome.com.
