Mrs. Mary Elizabeth (Phipps) Waldron went peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Monday, December 4, 2017. Born on November 9, 1931, in the big white house on the hill in downtown Stanton, she joined siblings Ernest Laverne Phipps and Darlene Faye (Phipps) Bliss. She was the daughter of Ernest and Helene (Williams) Phipps. The family later added Curtis and Glenn. When 12, she placed her confidence in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ as the only safety for her soul. Mary Beth and Eldon "Tex" Waldron were married on August 12, 1950. She and Tex shared this life verse: Proverbs 3: 5-6, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths." Her gift was hospitality and she was always ready to make a new friend. She happily followed her husband around the state of Michigan in his chosen career. A woman of great kindness and compassion, Mary Beth's heart was especially concerned for little children. How she loved the babies! She is survived by her husband Tex; her children Samuel and Charlene (Hufstetler) Waldron of Owensboro, Kentucky, Phillip and Darlene (Hoag) Waldron of Freeport, Michigan, and Daniel and Faith (Waldron) Van Enk of Walker, Michigan; brother Curtis Phipps of Mocksville, North Carolina, brother and sister-in-law Glenn and Joan Phipps of Grand Rapids, Michigan, sister-in-law Betty Phipps of Bridgman, Michigan; brothers and sisters-in-law Wendell and Iva Waldron, Lawrence and Marjorie Hansen, George and Colleen Waldron, Steve and Lois Johnston, Harvey Kay and Helen Waldron, Dick and Carolyn Fitzpatrick, all of Montcalm County; 13 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and numerous beloved friends. The family is very grateful for the services of Spectrum Hospice and the many meals and visits and love showered on Mary Beth in her last days. She was so blessed to be part of the family of God.
