SCOTT- A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, December 7, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in Melancon Funeral Home in Carencro for Marie B. Brooks, age 76, the former Marie Broussard, who passed away Monday, December 4, 2017 at Maison Teche Nursing Center in Jeanerette surrounded by her loving family. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Marie's life.
Interment will be in St. Peter Catholic Cemetery in Carencro. Associate Pastor Andrew Champagne of Faith Cathedral World Outreach will officiate at the service.
Marie was born on September 8, 1941 in Scott, Louisiana. She passed away peacefully and will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved cooking, crocheting , and spending time with her family outdoors.
Survivors include one sister, Ella Lou Burgardt of Eunice; four children, Bryan James LeBlanc (Yvette) of Jacksonville, FL, Roxanne Marie Beal of Lafayette, Pauline Ann Brooks of New Iberia and Andre Jerome Brooks (Kathy) of Opelousas; five grandchildren, Richard James LeBlanc, Kenneth Gouge, Christopher LeBlanc, Ethan James Brooks and Alyssa LeBlanc; six great grandchildren.
Marie was preceded in death by her first husband, Richard James LeBlanc; her second husband, James C. Brooks; her parents, Kossuth Broussard and the former Alphonsine Roger both natives of Scott; one brother, Daniel Broussard; and one grandchild, Ryan Guilbeau.
A rosary will be prayed at 12:00 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
The family requests visiting hours be observed from 9:00 a.m. Thursday until service time on Thursday.
Pallbearers will be Mark Broussard, Dale Credeur, Ethan Brooks, Kyler Faul, Rickey Guilbeau and Richard LeBlanc.
