His memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Heyworth Christian Church, 308 N. Vine. Visitation will be one hour before the service.
Daniel was a beloved father, son, brother and uncle. He is survived by his mother and father, Rosemary and Roy Luitjens; two daughters, Danielle and Megan; five sisters and four brothers; two grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. His grandparents preceded him in death.
He was a proud Army veteran, serving his country in Turkey. He then was a practicing nurse before his illness. Among his great loves were the Bears, the Blackhawks, and especially the Cubs. He loved fishing and spending time with his family. His spirit was gentle and loving. He is greatly missed.
