A native of Haywood County she is the daughter of the late Clifford and Artha Gentry Worley. She worked as a nurse in Buncombe County before retiring. She was a loving wife, loving mother and loving grandmother.
Survivors include her husband of fifty-five years, George Lewis Pate; son, Terry Pate of Black Mountain; daughters, Janet Lyles and Tamra Price, both of Swannanoa; grandson, Cameron Lyles who was her pride and joy; brother, Willard Worley of Swannanoa; sisters Ruth Payne (Glen) and Sarah Phillips (Dennis) all of Candler; sister-in-law, June Watkins of Fletcher; nephew, Jeff Payne of Clayton and niece, Tina Robinson of Black Mountain.
A funeral service will be held Thursday at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery. Rev. Bobby Shehan will officiate and burial will follow.
