Obituary of Ruby L. Bauman (née Gies) 1924-2004

Peacefully, on Wednesday, November 3, 2004, at Heritage House, St. Jacobs, Ruby L. Bauman, age 80 years. Beloved wife of her devoted and loving husband, Earl S. Bauman for 58 years. Dear mother of Robert Bauman, Richard and Donna Bauman, Keith and Lynne Bauman, Douglas and Ruth Bauman, all of Waterloo, Ruth and Terry Seiling of Elmira. Cherished grandmother of Michael (Stacy) Seiling, Greg (Sarah) Seiling, Adam Seiling and Joshua Bauman; also fondly remembered by Stephen Coulson. Predeceased by her parents, Howard and Amy (Niebergall) Gies; two sisters, Alice Shuh and Ruth Gies; one brother, Gordon Gies.

Born [in Kitchener] and raised in the St. Jacobs area, Ruby graduated from Stratford Teacher's College (1943) and taught grades 1-9 at Victoria Public School, Woolwich Township. Following their marriage in 1946, Ruby and Earl raised their family at Floraholme Farm near Floradale until their retirement to Elmira in 1983. An avid gardener, Ruby was a past member of the Elmira Horticultural Society, the Woolwich Historical Foundation, and a charter life member and past president of the Woolwich Everfaithful Women's Institute.

The family will receive friends and relatives at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, Elmira on Friday 7-9 p.m. and Saturday 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. At 12 noon on Sunday, transfer will be made to Calvary United Church, St. Jacobs for funeral service at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Ken Bauman and Rev. George Grierson officiating, followed by interment in Calvary United Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, the family would appreciate donations to the Alzheimer Society of K-W Chapter. The Bauman Family wishes to express their appreciation to the entire staff of Heritage House for the care and kindness shown to Ruby and their support given to the family.
