Eleanor L. Brooks, 94, passed away December 4, 2017 with family by her side.

She lived a full and memorable life. Eleanor was a great conversationalist and took interest in each person she met. She was raised in Hawleyton by her parents, Charles and Hazel Webb Shimer with siblings Leland and Edward. Eleanor embraced a love for laughter and life which included horseback riding, driving cars on a frozen Quaker Lake and tobogganing down Pennsylvania Avenue. She enjoyed miniatures and donated finished doll houses to charity. Eleanor was a cancer survivor and volunteered many hours of her time to Lourdes Hospital. She was employed outside the home at Ansco, Binghamton Plastic and Savin. At home she was involved with the Hawleyton United Methodist Church and was active in the community.

She was wed to Wilbur L. Brooks for 44 years. She and Wilbur raised their children in the church and community. They would take their family camping. Memories of a lifetime have been made and cherished.

She was predeceased by her husband, Wilbur and son, Leland.
Eleanor is survived by her children; Janice and Charles Headrick, Nancy and David James, Michelle and Dennis Gill, Robert and Suzanne Brooks, Natalie McMahon and Thomas Crounse and Paula Schofield. She leaves behind eleven grandchildren, Ken Titus, Mitchell James, Susan Snead, Lucy Brooks, Lauren Barbour, Montana McMahon, Elliott Eskra, and Joseph, Jacob and Mackenzie Schofield and six great grandchildren. Our family would like to thank the staff at Mercy House for all the kindness shown to Eleanor and our family.
