Gregory Lee Hensley, 69, of Bryan's Road, Md. departed this life on Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2017. A son of the late Ernest Poe Hensley and Dorothy Lee Potter, Greg was born on Oct. 25, 1948 in Waynesboro, Va. and was raised in Elkton, Va. by his aunt and uncle, George and Ruth Turnmeyer.

He graduated from Elkton High School in 1967 and worked for over 40 years as a high-rise crane operator in the Washington, D. C. area.

Greg loved the simple things: traveling, boating, scouting estate sales and most of all his family and friends. He lived life beyond its fullest and leaves those who loved him with treasured memories and smiles in their hearts.

Surviving Greg are his beloved family members: daughter, Cassie Hensley, of La Plata, Md. and her twin sons Luke & Raylan Hensley, granddaughter, Jessica Lee Hensley of Shenandoah and her son Wyatt, sisters, Roberta Meadows and Fonda Breeden of Elkton, and Mary Elizabeth Williams of Moseley, Va., as well as devoted best friends and former wives, Brenda Monger Hensley of Elkton and Deneen (Dee Jay) Ritter Hensley, of La Plata, Md.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Brendan Lee Hensley, and siblings, Eugene Hensley, Elaine Hensley Merica, Alden Hensley and Gwendolyn Hensley Hudlow.

A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, December 15 at 1:00 p.m. at the Evangelical United Methodist Church on Spotswood Avenue in Elkton, Va. A private burial will be held later at Elk Run Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Charles County, 2505 Davis Road, Waldorf, MD 20603.
