Velma Loretta Nelson, 78 of Lowell passed away Sunday, December 3, 2017 in Fayetteville.
She was born November 16, 1939 in Ball Creek, Arkansas to Boyd and Verda Watkins Edens.

Velma worked for Tysons for many years. She was a member of the Pleasant Street Church of Christ in Springdale for 65 years, where she enjoyed attending church functions. She loved people and helping them. She enjoyed embroidery, reading Christian Books, doing word search, playing and winning at dominos and reading the Bible. She always had a smile and loveable giggle. Her friends would have known her as a social butterfly. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James Nelson, one son, Michael Wayne Nelson, one brother, Adrian Edens and one grandson, Andrew Loyd.

Survivors include two sons, Ronnie D. Nelson and wife Rochelle of Springdale and Ricky Nelson and wife Paula of Lowell; one daughter, Debra Donahue and husband Kevin of Farmington; seven grandchildren, Derek and Eric Stotler, Jacob and Brittney Nelson, Stacia Hobbs and Tina and Ryan Donahue; five great grandchildren, Alana, Erica, and Landon Stotler, Mackayla Donahue, Kenleigh Hobbs, many nieces nephews and cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be Friday, December 8, 2017 at 10am at Pleasant Street Church of Christ with Larry Branum officiating. Burial will follow in Ledbetter Cemetery.
